San Juan County, Washington has historical societies on each of the main islands: San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez. The three groups decided to have a single website created, called Historic San Juans, where visitors could go to find out about upcoming events and learn more about the Societies. Read more »
James Barron is a versatile artist, one who is comfortable in many media. He paints, sculpts, makes furniture, and is never fazed by new materials. It's vital that an artists' website not compete with the artwork, so I designed his site to be as neutral as possible without being boring. Subtle color and texture serve as a quiet backdrop to showcase this extraordianry artist's work. Read more »
The Lambiel Museum houses the world's largest collection of work created by San Juan Islands' artists and craftsmen. It was quite a challenge to design a website that could convey the full scope of this outstanding collection of art. Instead of trying to show everything, I concentrated on creating two photo tours: one that displays highlights of the main collection, and one that focuses on the Loggie works. Read more »
Ravens Rook is a guest cabin on Lopez Island owned and operated by Asha Lela. Asha contacted me about redesigning her site, and asked if I could do two things for her: one, create a design that reflected the ambiance of her hand-built island home; and two, set up her website so that she could update it herself. Camp Nor'wester, a San Juan Islands summer camp, is a northwest icon: several generations of kids have made Camp their summer home. Christa Campbell, co-director of Nor'wester, contacted me about helping her make the existing website more engaging to prospective families as well as make it easier for the staff to update. Only one word can describe the Jaina Bee experience: Fancy! Take a tour inside an amazing art house in the historic Potrero Hill district of San Francisco. Aimee Hirschel, director of the Upper Skagit Library Disctrict, contacted me about making the existing website more engaging to the library patrons as well as make it easier for the staff to update. I designed a clean layout with strong typography to make the site easy to read and navigate. We worked together to choose a lively color palette that echoed the forest and river hues of the landscape around Concrete, Washington. Read more »
