Project: Website; business identity
Divvycast is the internet's first podcasting portal dedicated to connecting musicians and labels with advertisers. The project required integrating podcasting software, file and subscription management, and other musician- and sponsor-targeted services. Cloud Islands was contracted to create custom graphics, HTML templates, and CSS styling site-wide. We worked closely with Divvycast's founders and development staff, as well as independent record labels, to create an exciting, user-friendly, and dynamic site.
The challenge with Divvycast was to create a site based on a service model that is unique. There was no road map; we had to be flexible and willing to let the design grow and develop as the ideas and technical requirements were worked out.
As is often the case, the homepage was one of the first pages to be created; a couple of months after the site launched, however, it became obvious that the homepage didn't adequately represent what the site had now grown to be. We added two elements to increase interactivity: a Flash MP3 player so that visitors could listen to the week's top downloads, and a series of short Flash videos highlighting Divvycast's free software and subscriber features.
The public homepage needed to be enticing as well as informative.

A separate area for record labels needed to look distinctive, but still relate closely to the main Divvycast site.
